University of Arizona - Arizona Telemedicine Program Selects Phoenix NAP, Citing Security, Staff and Pricing(June 19, 2012)
PHOENIX, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 06/19/12 -- Phoenix NAP®, a full service data center, premier infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) provider and primary network access point (NAP), announced today that the Arizona Telemedicine Program (ATP), a University of Arizona based program that provides telemedicine services to communities throughout Arizona, has selected the data center for its hosting needs. The medical services provider cited Phoenix NAP's uncompromising commitment to security, professional and helpful staff and highly competitive pricing as motivating factors in choosing the world-class facility.
"The ATP has provided high quality telecommunications infrastructure for the healthcare industry for over a decade. Hundreds of thousands of Arizonans have benefited and lives have been saved. Phoenix NAP is a great resource for our program," says Dr. Ronald S. Weinstein, the ATP Director.
ATP will be deploying core wide area network systems, network security systems and video conferencing infrastructure systems inside Phoenix NAP. These systems will enable ATP members to interconnect their sites and networks to the ATP statewide telemedicine network access point via the Phoenix NAP data center, using any array of telecommunications and data networking providers.
"We are beyond excited to welcome the University of Arizona and ATP to our data center," said Ian McClarty, president of Phoenix NAP. "Serving as a platform for the state's only College of Medicine, ATP's dedication to showcasing the importance of telemedicine and e-health through the University of Arizona, local healthcare providers and communities throughout the state is outstanding and we are thrilled to be able to assist in their efforts."

An additional need ATP addressed was improving health care for incarcerated individuals in the state prison system, as well as county correctional systems.
ATP developed and operates its own broadband telecommunication system staffed by 24/7 engineers and services a network of more than 100 health-service facilities. More than 60 clinical subspecialty services have been provided through the network. For more information, please visit ATP's website at www.telemedicine.arizona.edu
