Universal Audio Takes Over UAD-1 Distribution

Company also set to launch UAD-1 Power Pak By Dave Nagel
Universal Audio has taken over distribution of the UAD-1 DSP card and Powered Plugins audio bundle from Mackie. The new distribution kicked in yesterday, though Mackie will continue to sell its version of the card until its supply runs out. UA says it will also launch a new package for the UAD-1 card this month at the NAMM convention in Anaheim, Calif.

UA says its plugins, including its forthcoming Fairchild compressor, will continue to support the Mackie UAD-1 card. As of now, Universal Audio assumes sales of aftermarket plugins for the UAD-1 and takes over technical support for Mackie's UAD-1 card. Universal Audio will also unveil a new UAD-1 package Jan. 15 at the NAMM show called the UAD-1 Studio Pak. It includes the existing UAD-1 plugins, as well as Dreamverb, Cambridge and Fairchild 670 plugins. It's expected to sell for $1,199.

The UAD-1 and Powered Plugins are available for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows. For more information, visit
