Union Editorial Cuts Spot for Halloween Horror Nights

Universal Studios Spot airs through October 31

Union Editorial has once again teamed up with ad agency davidandgoliath on a :30 TV commercial promoting Universal Studio's "Halloween Horror Nights" in Orlando, FL.  Entitled "Nails," the spot is a ghoulishly funny horror tale of a bloodthirsty granny and her unfortunate victim.  "Nails" was cut by Alycia Daniels and directed by Amanda Evans of prodco Tight.  It airs from September through October 31st. 

Shot in a dark, creepy cinematic style, the spot opens on a sweet looking granny reading aloud from a rocking chair.  "Tired from his adventures, the little boy retired to his bed and slept, and slept, and slept," she coos, ostensibly to a drowsy grandchild tucked in bed.  "Wasn't that a good story?" she asks, walking to the bedside. 

Noticing the sleepy individual?who is no child, but a grown, sweating man?looks a wee warm, she rips off the blankets to reveal him strapped to bedposts on a bed of nails.  Visual flourishes, like close-ups of his wriggling wrists, granny wielding a huge pair of shears, and blood dripping slowly down a nail add to the horror movie feel.  Hanging overhead the victim is an enormous anvil suspended with frayed rope.  "Sweet dreams," granny snickers, as she snips the rope.
