UmeNow: People-Only Network Releases iPhone App for Secure Communication

UmeNow, the super-private 'People-Only' encrypted network that has banned all tracking and all ads, has released a free iPhone app which makes it easy to share photos and thoughts on multiple Walls available to members. Launched in July 2011, UmeNow is a network for people who value secure communication. Unlike other social networks, UmeNow is designed for people who want to communicate in private with people they know and trust. While anyone can download the app for free, one has to sign up to the site first and establish a username and password before using the app.

"Our members will never be tracked or see any ads while using our app or posting anywhere within UmeNow," stated Evelyn Castillo-Bach, founder and CEO of UmeNow.

UmeNow also offers the ability to post blogs for the world to see, providing the option to add donation buttons to any blog to raise funds. All donations go directly to the blogger. UmeNow does not extract a fee for use of this feature. In addition, blogs may be posted anonymously, using a pseudonym, or with one's real name. To use the blog feature, one has to go directly to UmeNow. Blogs cannot be posted via the app.

Evelyn Castillo-Bach is the founder of UmeNow and Collegiate Nation. Both UmeNow and Collegiate Nation are known for fiercely protecting the privacy rights of its members. All ads, third party apps, and games are banned to safeguard members from back door tracking and unauthorized information extraction.

Castillo-Bach earned her M.S. in 1993 from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She has traveled extensively in Ethiopia and in the Balkans, accompanying her Danish husband who is a lawyer.
