Ulead DVD PictureShow Creates Slideshows for Viewing on TVMarketed as an alternative to lugging projectors and screens to family gatherings (October 29, 2001)
Assembling a project is easy with DVD PictureShow's intuitive drag-and-drop interface, says the company, and users can include up to 99 slideshows on a single CD or DVD. By using a standard DVD player to watch slideshows, sharing pictures with friends and family becomes a comfortable living room experience.
"The days of hauling out a bulky slide projector and setting up the white screen are over," said Rachel Hess, product marketing manager at Ulead Systems Inc. "With the popularity of DVD players rising, Ulead DVD PictureShow lets people use common entertainment equipment to share and watch collections of photo memories in a fun, new way. It's also a great way to archive photos, and the discs are cheap, durable and convenient to travel with or mail."
According to leading marketing information provider NPD INTELECT Market Tracking, almost 4.3 million DVD players have been sold between January and July 2001, compared with 6.7 million units in all of 2000. NPD INTELECT analysts suggest DVD player sales for 2001 could reach 13 million units, double last year's sales figure.
Cahners In-Stat Group, a market research firm, forecasts worldwide shipments of DVD recordable drives to reach 22 million by 2004, while worldwide shipments of CD-RW drives reached 35 million in 2000. Ulead DVD PictureShow creates discs using CD and DVD recording devices on computers that will play on the majority of DVD players.
