Twist Production Company Opens New York OfficeSigns 2 New Directors; Makes Internal Promotions and Expands Sales Force (February 06, 2006)
Global production company Twist has started off 2006 with a bang. The company has opened a New York office, Twist [East], as well as expanded its directorial roster to include two new Directors - Grady Cooper and Jonathan Bekemeier. Additionally, the company has named Amyliz Pera as Executive Producer of the Commercial Division, and promoted Jared Yeater to Head of Production. Under Pera's innovative leadership from New York, Twist has also taken on two new sales representatives, Kathryn Lotis and Rob Neill, who will approach sales from a team-oriented methodology.
These exciting announcements were made this morning by Twist President/Executive Producer Jim Geib, who continues to head up the company's Minneapolis office, Twist [North] and the company's Branded Entertainment division. Geib, along with Director/DP Rich Michell, founded Twist in 1997. From inception, Twist has been able to remain competitive because of its dedication to a team model, which supports a directorial roster of diverse talents and skill levels.
According to Geib, this significant expansion of Twist comes at a perfect time in the company's and advertising's history: "In the ever-changing climate that surrounds advertising film and video production, it is important that we at Twist are constantly evaluating and adjusting our modes of operation. This expansion to New York will allow Twist to effectively provide the required services that our customers are requesting and indeed demanding. New York is and has always been a vibrant creative center; we see that many of the new trends in advertising will be adopted and implemented there. Being in touch with this pulse on a daily basis is critical for Twist's continued growth. Additionally, we support the ability of regional markets to stay agile and take risks. We have no intention of abandoning these roots. We will continue to explore the many regional film centers here and abroad for our customers and their projects."
Director Grady Cooper joins Twist with a diverse comedy background. An Emmy-nominated editor, he's worked closely with several comic actors from Chris Rock and Steve Martin to Larry David. (Grady cut the first season of HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm"). He also produces theatrical trailers/promos and won Best Trailer at Cannes for Sophia Coppola's "Virgin Suicides." Beyond his commercial work, Grady has directed "The Lance Krall Show," a sketch comedy series for Spike TV, a short film (Slamdance premiere), and several music videos which have aired on MTV. Director Jonathan Bekemeier's focus is on talent and storytelling, but he brings a well-rounded background to Twist. Earlier in his career, he was a feature film Steadicam Operator and DP. Later, his directing career included music videos for national recording artists like The Pixies and labels such as: Capitol Records, Island Records, RCA/Beggar's Banquet & Elektra/4AD. Bekemeier's awards include Honorable Mention at Sundance for his short film "Titler." To view Jonathan's reel, go to: http://twistfilm.com/jbreel/jbreel.html
Amyliz Pera, Twist's new Executive Producer of the Commercial Division, comments on the company's decision to sign Cooper and Bekemeier: "We have a very careful recruiting process. The team has created an environment of support to allow directors at all levels to grow their talent. Twist has a good history of growth, both on the directorial side and as a company. Existing reels are not the ingredient we focus on, rather existing talent and potential - and above all, personality. There are a lot of gifted directors out there. We want to work with exceptional people who will be easy for our clients to work and collaborate with. I will enjoy working with Jonathan and Grady on a daily basis. We watched hundreds of reels to find the right mutual match, and I look forward to watching many more as Twist continues to grow."
"At Twist, we are continuously working with new and emerging trends in the delivery of advertising content," adds newly promoted Head of Production Jared Yeater. "A production company's role in advertising is expanding past the traditional hired gun approach of the television commercial. Interactive experiences via the web continue to be desired, and with DVR, podcast, mobile, and on-demand delivery via iTunes and Google becoming the norm, the execution of an engaging and creative vision for our clients is more important than ever. That is the single most important factor that drives the Twist directors and the Twist production process, and has translated into a very good reputation, which shows in our product. The whole team works hard to contribute to our director's vision and our clients' goals. Pushing that reputation and quality of work to its highest level and being a leader in new technologies will be my main focus."
Twist, an international production company, was founded in 1997 by President Jim Geib and Director Rich Michell. The company has been able to remain competitive in a global marketplace from offices in New York, Minneapolis, and Vancouver, BC. From its inception, Twist has been dedicated to a team model, which supports a directorial roster of diverse talents and skill levels. All offices work in tandem with one another. The team structure allows new talent to develop while experienced directors stay fresh. This provided an ideal environment for the launch of Twist's Branded Entertainment division, created to focus on project development and content for the variety of emerging outlets. Working closely with the Commercial Division and the Twist cadre of directors, the Branded Entertainment division has completed projects for clients such as: Target, General Mills and Select Comfort. One of the notable projects developed by this division is an unprecedented HD/3D film entitled "Mars 3D", in cooperation with NASA for the worldwide museum community. The Twist brand is recognized the world over for its high-quality production values and client service. For more information about Twist, please go to www.twistfilm.com.
