Tweet or Post Sentiments 5, 7 and 5 Syllables at a Time(March 21, 2011)
NEW YORK, March 21, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In celebration of World Poetry Day, today marks the official launch of Haikyu.com, an online community of Haiku writers and readers.
A Night Incubator project, Haikyu.com is seamlessly connected to both Facebook and Twitter, allowing people to read, write and publish their very own Haiku. The Haikyu Syllabl-izer™ makes writing a Haiku easy, and will alert writers if they have to few or too many syllables in each line. And for those on the go, the Haikyu iPhone application is the perfect creative outlet.
"We're excited to have created this platform for those who love to write haiku's, and find a way to bring this treasured practice into today's communication medium, the web and social networks," said Darren Paul, Co-creator of Haikyu and Co-founder of Night Incubator. "Haiku are one of the most creative and poetic ways of commenting on life, and with Haikyu, haiku written by you, it's easy to turn a mundane statement into a creative, 140 character, expression."
World Poetry Day, March 21, was declared by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in 1999 with the purpose to promote the reading, writing, publishing and teaching of poetry throughout the world.
Night Incubator is a New York City outfit focused on launching and investing in new technologies. For more information on Haikyu.com, or to create a 140 character Haikyu, visit www.haikyu.com or follow @Haikyu on Twitter.
