Tullahoma Industries, maker of uniforms for the United States Military, set to launch new premium denim jeans brand.

Tullahoma Industries, one of the main government contracted manufacturers of US Army Combat Uniforms, announced April 24, 2012 that it will launch a premium denim jean brand through e-commerce, fall 2012. The jeans will be called Grady Mac Denim. Grady Mac Knight is the native Tennessean, father-in-law and grandfather of the jeans designers and owners of Tullahoma Industries Richard and Jamie Davenport.

This is a great way to honor my father in-law, said Tullahoma Industries CEO Richard Davenport. Grady Mac was legendary for his bold personality, rugged style, and homemade moonshine. The jeans will be classic in function and style, yet rooted in the same quality, durability, and comfort that Tullahoma Industries is known to produce. Featuring Bamblue® denim, a bamboo/cotton, and bamboo/lycra/cotton blend, the jeans will be durable but super soft with a bit of stretch to conform to the body.

Like our Army uniforms, our jeans will be handcrafted in Tennessee using all American made fabrics, sewn by American workers, said Tullahoma Industries COO Jamie Davenport. My grandfather stood for all things red, white, and blue and we are proud to launch a brand that is 100% rooted in America and in the heart of the American South. Tullahoma Industries has contracted CMOco., a Tennessee based marketing, branding and business strategy company to develop the Grady Mac brand, build the e-commerce platform, and manage all advertising, publicity, and social media.

Grady Mac Denim will be sold exclusively through e-commerce initially with the potential to move into specialty boutiques later on. The jeans will be priced from $120-$160. The premium jeans will reflect the American spirit and pride in its custom stitching and design and will be made to reflect the active American lifestyle. From the office to the outdoors, the jeans will be classic in function and unique in style. The jeans will come in a variety of fits, but all will encompass a hip, unique, yet innovative spirit that reflects ones individuality.


Tullahoma Industries began as Daun Ray Casuals, founded by Daun Anthony in 1968. The company began as a manufacturer of Australian bikinis. However, these bikinis proved to be a bit too risqué for the 1960s American woman, and the company ceased production of that item. The company was able to find alternate products to sustain the business until Jack Anthony (Daun Anthonys son) took over the business in the late 70s.

Jack introduced the company to defense contracting. Throughout the years Daun Ray Casuals made an assortment of products for both the commercial market and Defense Department. These range from chemical protective garments, to the US Navy white dress jumper, to performance fleece products for Champion, Russell Athletic, Fruit of the Loom, and Sara Lee.

In 1992 Richard Davenport was hired to oversee all manufacturing. Davenport served as Vice President of Manufacturing until 1999, when Jack Anthony retired. At that point, Davenport purchased the companys assets, and changed the company name to Tullahoma Industries. Since that time, the company has grown considerably. Currently, Tullahoma Industries is producing the newly redesigned Army Combat Uniform, Army Gen III Level 6 Gore-Tex Pant and Parka, Army Gen III Level 5 Jacket, Flame Resistant Naval Coverall, Polypropylene Thermal Underwear, and Chemical Protective Garments that are sold to various law enforcement agencies.

Tullahoma's facilities are state-of-the-art. It has reinvested considerable capital in Unit Productions Systems and highly automated equipment to provide quick response to its customer base.
