Trivial Pursuit Game Now Available on Mobile Phones

World's most popular trivia game goes from gameboard to mobile phones (January 19, 2005)

The Trivial Pursuit game has moved out of the living room and onto mobile handsets everywhere. Starwave Mobile and Horn Abbot Ltd., owner of the Trivial Pursuit trademark, today announced the launch of the mobile adaptation of the best-selling and most popular trivia board game of all time, Trivial Pursuit. Published by Starwave Mobile, the Trivial Pursuit mobile game is available now through select mobile carriers and will soon roll out to other major carriers nationwide.

The Trivial Pursuit mobile version brings the board game's familiar trivia teasers and graphic design to phone subscribers' handsets. It boasts a large and diverse catalog of questions that differ from the board, online and PC versions of the game so players can maximize their trivia knowledge. Questions are updated frequently, eliminating repeats and ensuring that question themes are always fresh. Additionally, the mobile adaptation retains the game's competitive nature by offering a leaderboard system and tournament challenges, allowing players to compete for the highest listed score.

Users are able to select from a variety of game play options, including single player or a multiplayer "pass the phone" variations. Players choose the game type, game tile piece color and timer settings. Points and pie pieces are accrued by correctly answering questions, and the point system is based on the speed in which the questions are answered. The timer, along with the question count, can be adjusted based on the players' level of expertise.
