Trial begins for Pa. boy accused of murder at 11Closed murder trial begins for Pa. boy who was 11 when dad's pregnant fiancee was slain
NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) ' A judge hearing the murder trial of a Pennsylvania boy who was 11 when his father's pregnant fiancee and her unborn son were killed has heard from a tree trimmer who says he called police after the victim's 4-year-old daughter emerged from the house and said, "My mommy's dead."
The father of slain Kenzie Houk said outside juvenile court Tuesday that witnesses called so far are mostly setting the scene the morning she died.
Now-14-year-old Jordan Brown is accused of killing 26-year-old Houk and her unborn son in February 2009.
The trial has been closed to the media despite court appeals by three newspapers who argued it's fruitless because details of the crime were reported when the boy was initially charged as an adult.
Brown's father says Jordan is innocent.
