TrendWatch Fast Fact: Training Broadcast/Cable Employees

Companies wrestling with keeping their people trained By Jim Whittington, TrendWatch Inc.

TrendWatch logoIn this weekly quick feature, TrendWatch founding partner Jim Whittington offers you fascinating factoids based on market research from the broadcast and graphics industries. This week, find out how U.S. cable and broadcast studios are dealing with the issue of training their employees.

Fact: 60% of U.S. Broadcast/Cable studios are challenged by their need for employee training.

Why should you care?
As the broadcast industry migrates to a digital infrastructure to meet FCC mandates many broadcast/cable studios will need to update their employees' skills to use new tools for DTV and HD. This is a significant issue in the industry with two-thirds of the broadcast/cable studios with 20+ employees challenged by the need for employee training. This business challenge changes according to where the training is conducted. For example, 40% of these studios are challenged by onsite training issues and half that many by training their employees at a training company school/facility.
