TrendWatch Fast Fact: Top Job Titles in StudiosVery few studios have management positions
In this weekly quick feature, TrendWatch founding partner Jim Whittington offers you interesting factoids based on market research from the broadcast and graphics industries. This week, find out what the most common job titles are in U.S. studios and production facilities.
Fact: 70% of studios/facilities have producer job titles and half have video editor titles.
Why should you care?
It is no big surprise that Producer, Editor and Director are the top three titles. These are "everyday" jobs that studios do in the course of their project work. Of interest is just how many studios/facilities have graphic artists and writers on staff -- one in three have these job titles. It is also interesting (well... for us researchers at least) that the average number of producers per studio is two and for studios with more than 20 employees, this jumps up to four producer jobs. Very few studios have management positions -- this makes sense as over 70% of U.S. studios/facilities have less than ten employees.
