Audio sweetening/ recording/ mixing are top tasks By Jim Whittington, TrendWatch Inc.

TrendWatch logoIn this weekly quick feature, TrendWatch founding partner Jim Whittington offers you interesting factoids based on market research from the broadcast and graphics industries. This week, see what's going on at audio recording and mixing studios.

Fact: Three-fourths (74%) of audio recording mixing studios do audio sweetening/ recording/ mixing and 69% do music recording/mixing work.

Why should you care?
If you're not in this part of the business, you probably won't give a hoot! Just in case you sell your widgets to these studios or your work is mixed in one, knowing what these studios do day in and day out to pay the bills may be useful information. Two out of five (42%) do location audio/sound work and one in four (24%) do live production/events work. More than twice as many freelancers and small studios (1-10 employees) do location and live production work than larger studios.
