Trapped workers rescued from NYC building collapse

3 trapped workers rescued by first responders from NYC building construction collapse By The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) ' Firefighters have pulled three workers out of the rubble of a construction collapse in New York City.

The Fire Department of New York says five people were injured in the collapse at the five-story building in Brooklyn. One person is in critical condition. Two are in serious condition.

Images from a helicopter over the scene in Brighton Beach showed the first responders scrambling to claw their way through a pile of rubble where the building had mostly crumbled to the ground.

At one point, a blowtorch was used to cut through the debris and pull a trapped worker onto a stretcher.

The worker was lowered down by the nearly two dozen firefighters and other first responders at the scene.
