Trapcode EchospaceA first look at the 3D plugin for Adobe After Effects
At last year's NAB, Trapcode owner, Peder Norrby wowed crowds with his new plugin called Particular, which allows After Effects users to create particle effects with bitmaps or layers created within After Effects. Since then, the plugin has been showing up in numerous on-air animations for commercials, promos, music videos and special effects work.

Trapcode is best known for its plugin, Shine which produces a visible light ray effect based on user-selected parameters of the layer's image. Other plugins within the Trapcode family are Sound Keys, 3D Stroke, Star Glow, Lux and Particular.
This year, Norrby showed a preview of a plugin that expects to be delivered this fall : Trapcode Echospace.
The new plugin will create instances of 3D layers in space along forumlas determined by the plugin. The instances created by the plugin are based on user-created layers that exist within After Effects, and can be controlled within Echospace.
Echospace will push After Effects users to redefine what they consider the limits of 3D composition. More and more After Effects animators are using 3D space to create compositions that take advantage of all the 3D tools that Adobe has to offer.
While additional information about the highly anticipated plugin remain veiled in secrecy, Peder has allowed me to publish these images which will give you a hint of the potential yet to come.
Other plugins from Trapcode which take advantage of the 3D camera data are 3D Layer, Particular and Lux. Lux is a unique plugin which simulates volumetric lighting from lights that exist within the 3D After Effects scene.
The combination of these Trapcode plugins gives Adobe users the ability to expand their designs far beyond the basic toolsets found within After Effects. Although the Trapcode effects are already a Hollywood standard when compiling a plugin wish list for After Effects, the introduction of Echospace will certainly add an entry to that list.
Echospace has a projected Q3 "street" date, but as everyone knows, you'll be able to purchase it at Trapcode.com as soon as it becomes available.
