Totem Addresses Fake Apple Stores Emerging in China

  (August 26, 2011)

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) August 26, 2011

Totem, a company that purchases used and broken iPhones from businesses and consumers alike, wants to reassure customers that they do not supply fraudulent Apple stores, such as the vendors recently discovered in China. Devices that are purchased from customers are distributed through legitimate supply chains.

In July, the discovery of fraudulent Apple stores in Kunming, China, set off an international investigation that has led to the unearthing of nearly 30 fake retailers in China and 50 unlicensed clones in New York. The Chinese government has cracked down by closing some of the vendors, while Apple has lashed out stateside by filing trademark infringement lawsuits and obtaining warrants to seize genuine, unauthorized Apple devices.

Just to set everyone at ease, we definitely do not sell to, or at, fake Apple stores, says Totem CEO Nicholas Fiorentino. Our sales network consists of large Asian and European distributors which in turn refurbish and resell the devices to a legitimate network of retailers. The devices are typically unlocked and used with their coinciding GSM service providers. Many domestic T-Mobile users do precisely the same thing.

An accredited Better Business Bureau provider since 2009, Totem has earned an impeccable reputation for connecting consumers and businesses looking to cash in on their iPhone, BlackBerry, and other smartphone investments with reputable companies that pay a competitive market price for the device. If an iPhone has outlived its usefulness, Totem ensures it is disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.

Totem is proud of the business model we have built and we are committed to ensuring that every consumer and business that chooses to partner with us is treated fairly and with respect, notes Rob Longo, Totems CFO/COO.

Totem is committed to providing the highest quality buyback program in the industry, while remaining true to its values of social responsibility. The companys expert team of recyclers works diligently to ensure that consumers have an easy, efficient method to dispose of their old technology in a financially lucrative and environmentally friendly manner.
