Toshiba and 123Net Certify Interoperability of IPedge and Strata CIX Business Telephone Systems With 123Net SIP Trunking

(May 02, 2012)

IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/02/12 -- Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division (Toshiba) -- www.telecom.toshiba.com, and 123Net Inc. -- www.123.net, today announced interoperability certification of 123Net's SIP trunking solution with Toshiba's IPedge® and Strata® CIX™ IP business communication systems. 123Net SIP trunking is now available from Michigan's Authorized Toshiba Dealers.

"Certification of Toshiba's IPedge and Strata CIX with 123Net SIP provides enterprises the interoperability of a feature-rich telephone system with a high-quality SIP trunking service," said Mark Carpenter, vice president of Product Management for Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division. "Michigan's Authorized Toshiba Dealers can now offer their Toshiba IPedge and Strata CIX customers 123Net SIP, a cost-effective, easy-to-deploy and easy-to-manage SIP trunking solution as part of their enterprise telephony systems."

"This interoperability certification allows Authorized Toshiba Dealers and existing users of Toshiba's IPedge and Strata CIX business telephone systems the ability to make a confident choice in 123Net as their SIP provider," said Kyle McKinley, network operations manager for 123Net Inc. "This certification also gives Toshiba's dealers a comprehensive SIP trunking solution that is easy to deploy with a plug-and-play experience."

"Completing the interoperability certification with Toshiba broadens the market where 123Net's SIP trunking can be offered and helps ensure a seamless delivery for the client," said Dave Curran, channel sales manager for 123Net Inc.

Benefits of 123Net SIP:

  • Dynamic allocation of voice trunks onto data circuits helps avoid wasted bandwidth during periods of no or low call volume;
  • 123Net SIP trunks are delivered only over 123Net data connections, allowing the company to provide an unmatched quality of service; and
  • SIP trunks can be delivered over a standard T1 or also can be delivered over fiber-to-the-premise, Ethernet over copper, WiMax 4G, and microwave point-to-point, allowing the customers to deploy voice over their preferred high-bandwidth data solutions, eliminating the need to retain more traditional voice facilities.

About Toshiba's IPedge IP Business Telephone System

IPedge accommodates multiple unified communication applications on a single Linux server, including call processing, voice mail and unified messaging, meet-me conferencing with Web collaboration, Call Manager unified communications, native SIP line and SIP trunk support, mobility, survivability, networking with other IPedge and/or Strata CIX systems, centralized administration, and feature-rich telephone endpoints. Plus, add-on applications, including uMobility Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) and Contact Center solutions, are available with additional servers.

Benefits of the Linux server include survivability within or across the network to support business continuity and a higher level of security. A single IP address provides cost-effective deployment. SIP trunks work natively with the IPedge without requiring additional gateway equipment. With its IP technology and open standards, IPedge is designed for the long term as future endpoint devices and applications are built on standards to help ensure compatibility with the system, thus protecting the user's investment.

Built-in features include:

  • Toshiba's Call Manager Unified Communications application;
  • Enterprise Manager browser-based system administration with centralized multi-site management;
  • Browser-based personal administration for individual users to program their own telephones;
  • Flexible and feature-rich Unified Messaging;
  • On-site mobility including Toshiba's wireless IP telephones; and
  • One hundred percent networking compatibility with Toshiba's Strata CIX IP converged systems.
