When legendary producer and Senior Partner of Universal South Records Tony Brown wanted to hear a three-part harmony on the track ?Building Bridges, from the upcoming Brooks & Dunn album, Hillbilly Deluxe (Arista Nashville/RLG) he knew exactly who to call and exactly what studio to use to record his vocal over-dubs.

?I was talking to Ronnie Dunn about how I always wanted to hear a three-part, kind of high lonesome harmony on the track, stated Tony Brown. ?I turned to him and said, ?lets make this a vocal event. What about Sheryl Crow and Vince Gill? Dunn replied, ?If you can get them, go for it baby! Brown immediately contacted both artists who took time out of their busy schedules to record background vocals on the track, choosing Sheryl Crows Talentshop Recording studio in Nashville for the session.

?As a producer, sometimes the thrill of cutting records is casting musicians who have never played together, but are so great, that the result cant be bad, commented Tony Brown. ?I have worked with Vince for years and have always admired Sheryl?I even cut one of her tunes on Wynonnas second album. I also knew Sheryl had bought a studio in Nashville that I worked in many times over the years and I thought it would be perfect for this session.

The studio, which is located minutes from Nashvilles famed Music Row, features a small, intimate recording environment with a classic Neve 8078 console, a complete Pro Tools setup, plus vintage equipment from Fairchild and Studer, as well as a large collection of new and vintage microphones.

?I was really excited about doing this session at the Talentshop and I know that Sheryl was happy we were using her place, commented Brown. He continues, ?It would have been a nightmare to have done this session in one of the large studios. I wanted a creative place that was comfortable with a cool vibe. When Sheryl and Vince were in the tracking room doing their vocals, Ronnie, Kix and I were only about ten feet away on the other side of the glass. That kind of face-to-face contact between the artists and the producers made the session go so much easier. Of course Sheryl and Vince sounded great together and really added to the track.

Originally purchased for her own use and with the idea of being closer to her sister who has lived in Nashville for years, Sheryl Crow bought the studio and re-named it Talentshop Recording a little over a year ago. ?Its a great studio and has the Neve board that I recorded all my records on with the exception of the first one, stated Sheryl Crow. She continues, ?I bought it about a year ago and started making my latest record there. We recorded four songs that are actually going to be out on the album which is due out in September (the single ?Good is Good hits airwaves in August) ? its a great little place.

She now plans to open the studio up for other people to record there as well and Tony Brown may even become one of her regular clients. ?Working at Talentshop Recording was the perfect scenario for this track. I love doing lead vocals, vocal comps and background vocals at a place where you can just get a lot of work done without the distractions. I plan on taking advantage of Sheryls facility and becoming a client because, I love that place, in fact, I always have loved that place.

Tony Brown, who co-produced the album, Hillbilly Deluxe with Kix Brooks & Ronnie Dunn is one of the industrys most prolific producers and has worked with such leading artists as Wynonna, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill and George Strait. With over 100 #1 singles, Tony Brown has also received numerous industry honors that include awards from the Grammys, CMA, ACM and the American Music Awards.
