Time Reveals New iMac Early

Top-end model to sport DVD burner By Dave Nagel
Time Canada has revealed the first photographs of the new iMac, which will be announced later today at the Macworld conference in San Francisco. In an article in the online edition, a shot of the machine reveals a semispherical base with a chrome neck supporting a flat-panel display. The article doesn't say anything about the processor or graphics capabilities of the new consumer machine, but it does say the new high-end model will ship with a DVD burner.

The new iMacs are described as being priced at $1,300 to $1,800, depending on configuration. We'll bring you official pricing details when they are made available later today. The article describes the base of the machine as 26.4 cm in diameter with a chrome neck that swivels while maintaining the angle of the display.

The article also mentions a new consumer application, iPhoto, which is designed as an image capture and arcchiving tool for users of digital cameras.
