The Staves Strike "The Motherlode" With New EP; Acclaimed English Sibling Trio Herald Release With North American Tour Alongside Bon Iver; Dates Begin May 21st in Edmonton, Alberta; Festival Appearances Also Slated for Sasquatch! and Bonnaroo; "THE MOTHER(May 14, 2012)
NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 05/14/12 -- Atlantic recording group The Staves have announced the upcoming release of their much-anticipated new EP. "THE MOTHERLODE EP" will be available at all digital service providers from May 22nd.
The EP is highlighted by the UK-based sibling trio's new single -- the Glyn and Ethan Johns' co-production "The Motherlode" -- a companion video for which can be viewed now at The Staves' official YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/user/thestaves.
"THE MOTHERLODE EP" heralds the impending arrival of The Staves' eagerly awaited debut album, slated for release later this year. In the meantime, The Staves will be bringing their extraordinary three-part harmonies to North America with a major tour alongside Bon Iver. The dates get underway May 21st at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and then continue through early June (see below itinerary).
The Staves have also slated a series of high profile U.S. festival appearances, including the 2012 Sasquatch! Music Festival at The Gorge in George, Washington on May 27th and the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee on June 10th. For more information, please see www.thestaves.com/live.htm.
The upcoming tour schedule continues a very busy 2012 for The Staves. The group kicked off the year with a series of North American dates supporting The Civil Wars, followed by a hugely successful U.K. jaunt alongside Michael Kiwanuka. Most recently, The Staves made a unique journey across the U.S. as part of "The Austin To Boston Tour," a multi-artist bill presented by the acclaimed artist-led collective, Communion.
With their unique vocal harmonies and haunting melodies, The Staves have quickly earned attention as one of 2012's most extraordinary new talents. The sisters -- Emily, Jessica, and Camilla Staveley-Taylor -- have already been tipped for success by a wide range of publications both here and in their native United Kingdom. Time Out New York declared The Staves to be among "the year's breakthrough artists," applauding the trio's "subtlety, grace and charm." Vogue named The Staves as its "Band of the Week," praising the group's recently released "MEXICO" EP for possessing "a world-weariness reminiscent of Joni Mitchell's 'LADIES OF THE CANYON.'" "These girls are good," advised Nylon, "so go ahead and jump on The Staves bandwagon early."
