"The honored films are a tribute to what is possible using the mini film studio we carry each day," says OIFF Co-Founder Corey Rogers. "And we're excited to see which finalist film walks off with the Grand Prize, including the Macbook Air."
"Just as iOS devices place filmmaking tools into the hands of many, we democratized the selection of the Grand Prize Winner," adds OIFF Co-Founder Matthew Dessner. "It's going to be fun to announce it at Macworld Expo with Jason Snell and the team at Macworld magazine."
The Original iPhone Film Festival was developed to bring together and showcase the films of the iPhone filmmaker community and encourage aspiring filmmakers to tell their stories by utilizing the "film studio in their pocket" - the cutting-edge Apple iOS devices that break down the barriers to personal filmmaking.
To further support and nurture this unique iPhone filmmaker community, OIFF is expanding the website with a new iPhoneFilmmaker Blog and future additions including user forums, iPhone filmmaking tips, recommended accessories, apps and post production how-tos, a content showcase and future events & contests.
OIFF is sponsored by Macworld magazine, creative software maker Red Giant, Dailymotion, Gothamist, Hype, Zacuto USA, ALM Live, Filmic Pro, iStabilizer, Movie Slate, Vericorder, Global Mechanic, and Geneva Lab.
