The Olives Radio Copywriting Contest Accepts Entries

Judges in Annual Competition Include Creatives from Top National Ad Agencies (December 07, 2005)

Submissions are now being accepted for the 2nd Annual Olives Awards, advertisings premiere competition honoring the very best writing in radio advertising. Sponsored by Sound Lounge Radio, the competition is open to adverting industry professionals nationwide. Participants may submit their ?most hilarious, touching, delightful or brilliant unproduced radio scripts. Winners, to be announced in May, will receive cash prizes up to $3000 and, better yet, have their scripts professionally produced by Sound Lounge Radio. Submissions, made through the Olives website, must be received by February 10, 2006.

?The first Olives were a tremendous success and confirmed our belief in the breadth of talent involved in writing radio advertising, said Sound Lounge Radio executive producer Gregg Singer. ?Gauging by the interest we have already received in this years competition, we expect a significant increase in participation and even better work.

Judging will be performed by a blue ribbon panel whose members include top creatives from some of the largest and most respected advertising agencies in the country. They include Jason Gaboriau, creative director and founding partner, Amalgamated; Scott Grayson, creative director, DDB; Kevin McKeon, executive creative director, Strawberry Frog; Mark Nardi, senior vice president/creative director, Hill Holiday Boston; David Angelo, chairman/chief creative officer, davidandgoliath; George Logothetis, associate creative director, Merkley & Partners; Peter Rosch, executive vice president/executive creative director, Lowe Worldwide; Brett Howlett, executive creative director, M&C Saatchi; Tom Nelson, creative director/founding partner, Gardner Nelson; Walt Connelly, executive creative director, JWT; Larry Silberfein, creative director, Euro RSCG; Mark Bernath, senior partner/group creative director, Ogilvy & Mather; Thomas Hackett, group creative director, McCann Erickson; Steve Bassett, senior vice president/creative director, The Martin Agency; and David Coor, executive vice president/executive creative director, Publicis; Arthur Bijur, president/executive creative director, Cliff Freeman.

The Olives is a competition for new and unproduced radio scripts. Entrants can be for any product and in any genre. Scripts can be written for The Olives or work written for clients that, for whatever reason, hasnt been produced. Complete details are available at The Olives website,

The first Olives Awards competition, completed this past June, drew hundreds of submissions from across the country. Finalists included creatives from Arnold Worldwide, Lowe Worldwide and Publicis.
