The Imaging Source Announcing New Video-to-FireWire Converter

Notebooks now have the same image acquisition power as PCI frame grabbers (October 30, 2001)
The Imaging Source, a digital imaging hardware reseller and manufacturer and software application developer announces a new video to firewire converter. The Imaging Source is offering a sneak preview of the DFG/1394-1 at their booth No.421 during The Vision Show East in Boston Oct. 30 - Nov. 1, 2001. The DFG/1394-1 is a versatile, easily portable solution for mobile imaging. It can be used with notebook computers and PCs as well as interface with other video capture devices including medical equipment, camcorders and digital cameras. Software developers can also integrate the DFG/1394-1into their applications via a software developer kit (SDK) that is included.

Rolf Bollhorst, president of The Imaging Source states, "Finally notebook users get the same image acquisition performance as PC users using a PCI frame grabber. Uncompressed video can be displayed in real time and streamed as AVI to the hard drive." Mr. Bollhorst also states that, "The DFG/1394-1 will be commercially available before the end of this year."

Software Support

The DFG/1394-1 comes with the IC Imaging Control and includes:

C++ class library, activeX, sample source code, Grab&View imaging application

IC Imaging Control allows controlling all hardware setting, displays a live image, saves images to hard disk, provides a buffer for image processing, etc.

FPICS, which is an acronym for Frame-grabber Programming Interface Control Standard, is included to allow developers and OEMs to quickly build advanced capture applications around the DFG/1394-1.
