The DC Group Goes Full DIPartners with Prasad Labs to form The Digital Intermediate Group (February 08, 2005)
Following their successful digital conform work on the stylized sci-fi thriller ?Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and the upcoming Peter Hyams-helmed ?A Sound of Thunder, Marc Kolbe and Craig Mumma, co-owners of The Digital Conform Group have partnered with Prasad Labs to form The Digital Intermediate Group, LLC. (The DI Group).
?We are very excited about this new venture, says co-owner Kolbe. ?Our DI facility offers a unique pipeline for fast, reliable and cost-effective look development and digital finishing of feature films. With our extensive background in visual effects, scanning and recording, data management and traditional editing, were able to utilize our expertise to establish a thoroughly modern digital intermediate facility.
The new Los Angeles-based facility employs state-of-the-art equipment, technology and data management systems which offer scanning, conforming, digital color correction, film recording and delivery of completed projects at both 2K and 4K resolutions.
?We run a highly efficient, nuts and bolts facility. We shy away from the glitz of typical commercial facilities, preferring to maintain a low overhead and pass the savings on to our clients. What you pay for here goes directly into your project, says co-owner Mumma.
The Prasad Group, Asias largest post production group, was established in 1956. With companies, offices and facilities in India, Singapore, Dubai and the USA, The Prasad Group employs over 1,200 people.
Marc Kolbe and Craig Mumma are the founders of The VFX Production Company, a per-project visual effects company based on the live-action film production model of gearing up and ramping down overhead, personnel and equipment for individual productions. Previously they served as co-heads of Centropolis Effects, VisionArt Design and Animation and digital.art.media.
The DI Group is located in Culver City.
