The Chimney Pot Purchases Three BrightDrive Shared Media SystemsLeading European Post-Production Group Chooses BrightDrive for Collaborative Workflows (September 08, 2006)
Bright Systems, Inc., a market leader in file server and infrastructure technology for the post production industry, is announcing at that The Chimney Pot Group, one of Europes foremost post-production enterprises, has purchased three BrightDrive shared media systems. Two systems will provide the digital infrastructure for collaborative data-centric post-production workflows in The Chimney Pot Groups facilities located in Stockholm and Oslo. The third BrightDrive system will be installed in Chimney Pots new post-production centre in Moscow.
?We have chosen BrightDrive following unfortunate experiences with other SAN systems, said Bjorn Brudeli, Technical Manager for the Chimney Pot Group. ?Despite this experience, we could still see the value in media sharing workflows and, having met the Bright Systems people and seen BrightDrive in action, we are happy to say that they deliver high performance technology that will enable us to get the best from our post-production systems.
The Chimney Pot Group, known for its highly specialised expertise in the field of creative digital imagery and grading will use the new BrightDrive systems to share media simultaneously between a range of software applications and multiple teams of operators. This will enable the company to achieve maximum productivity from its various post and DI workflows.
In Oslo, BrightDrive will enable operators to share media between two Discreet Lustres, Flame, Smoke and a Digital Vision Data Conform, where the majority of the work undertaken involves data-intensive grading, onlining and visual effects projects. In Stockholm, operators will work on the same media concurrently, sharing files between two Digital Vision Film Masters, each with its own online workspace, a Data Conform and a range of other post-production and administrative systems sharing nearline storage. In Moscow, BrightDrive will be installed to provide a media sharing infrastructure for a new post-production centre.
