Testtube Gambles With ?My DiceLatest music video from Slovenia?s hottest rock group Siddharta (September 24, 2004)
Testtube has just finished work on ?My Dice, the latest music video from Slovenias hottest rock group Siddharta. It was directed by Luka Lorenci, photographed by Simon Tansek, with special effects by Oskar Mohar and Lorenci. The video featuring a hollow, partially shattered body of the lead singer poring his heart out to the love of his life, has unsettled viewers with his striking look and heart breaking delivery.
In this haunting love story, we watch a girl meticulously reconstructing the body of her lover. Like gluing back a delicate porcelain vase, she rebuilds his face piece by piece, only to shatter it violently back to pieces in the end.
Shot in one 25-hour day on location in a huge church attic, the video required some carefully preplanned face tracking and precise compositing of CG elements. With the singer wearing around fifteen light trackers on his face, which could be visible even in total darkness, his head movements were tracked inside the computer and combined with a scanned model of his face.
Unlike ?Insane, Testtubes previous video for Siddharta, which featured some of the most elaborate combination of live action and computer animation seen in a music video, this project was all about making the effects as organic and invisible as possible. The real challenge was not to make the open head effects grotesque or horrifying, but delicate and awe-inspiring.
My Dice is already in rotation on MTV Europe and will be added to VIVA and VH1 stations later this week. Testtubes debut video ?Platina has won Best Video of the Year Award at the Viktor Awards and has received high critical praise from all around the world.
