Testimony ending in Fort Hood suspect's trial

Testimony expected to wrap up in trial of soldier accused of planning to bomb Fort Hood troops By The Associated Press

WACO, Texas (AP) ' Testimony was expected to wrap up Thursday in the federal trial of a soldier accused of planning to bomb a Texas restaurant filled with Fort Hood troops.

Jurors in Army Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo's trial were to see evidence from an FBI expert who built a device from the same materials that Abdo reportedly had.

Prosecutors have said Abdo had started building the bomb when he was detained at a motel near the Texas Army post in July. Defense attorneys say no device was ever constructed.

The 22-year-old faces up to life in federal prison if convicted of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and other charges.

In a recorded jail visit with his mom, Abdo says he wanted to seek justice for those in Iraq and Afghanistan.
