TechnoMedia Installs AJA Converters for Time WarnerFor component and composite analog and digital conversion (December 08, 2004)
AJA today announced TechnoMedia Solutions, of Orlando, Florida, has installed over 50 AJA converters in the new Time Warner World Headquarters in New York City. The new headquarters include office and studio space of 865,000 square feet for Time Warner, with state-of-the-art digital production and broadcast facilities for live transmission of CNN and CNNfn.
“When selecting which converter company to use, we quickly determined that not only was AJA the best value, its miniature converters also had the best form factor,” said Mike Carroll, Senior Project Manager of TechnoMedia. “The miniature converters had to be very close to the plasma displays but remain hidden, which many other converters could not do. Both the rack-mounted and miniature converters suited our needs perfectly - they offered the highest broadcast quality and reliability available. AJA has been a wonderful company to work with; they have been very service-oriented when we had questions and worked with us as a partner by not putting a product out and saying 'here it is, good luck', we really appreciate that.”
TechnoMedia selected a number of miniature and rack-mounted converters for component and composite analog and digital conversion, including AJA's newest converter, the HD10C2 HD-SDI and SDI Digital to Analog converter. The HD10C2 automatically accepts either HD or SD inputs - this allows a plasma or other appropriate display to work with either HD or SD video. Filling the need for broadcast-quality A/D and D/A conversion, signal distribution, and down-conversion, TechnoMedia also installed various other modular rack-mount and miniature AJA products into the Time Warner network.
“We are pleased that TechnoMedia selected us for this innovative project with Time Warner,” said John Abt, president of AJA Video Systems. “When TechnoMedia first approached us two years ago about their converter needs for this installation, we were impressed with the innovative dual HD/SD system design.”
TechnoMedia created a 'distributed media system' that distributes messages to numerous video monitors throughout the lobbies, elevators, and screening theatre. All these elements are connected to a central “ingest and distribution center” that takes media in just about any format and from any source, moves it onto a video server, and then schedules the playback of that media through a fibreoptic network to any screens.
