Tech Soft Announces ParaHOOPS 3D Part Viewer 6.2

Translates Parasolid v.13 and includes real-time simultaneous view, mark-up capabilities (September 27, 2001)
Tech Soft America announced the latest release of the free ParaHOOPS 3D Part Viewer built around TSAs HOOPS Product Suite and Parasolid v13, UGS widely used geometric modelling kernel.

The most recent version of this popular free 3D viewer allows for real time collaborative view and mark up of XT part files, translation between Parasolid versions, and web publishing to the HOOPS Stream File (HSF) format. The HOOPS Stream File (HSF) format is a robust, customizable and highly compressed 2D/3D visualization format specifically tailored to the needs of displaying engineering data. With HSF, application developers can create highly customized, stream-capable visualization files, which may also contain application-specific information and have that data intelligently associated with the tessellated model data.

The ParaHOOPS 3D Part Viewer can be downloaded free at

Developers wishing to customize or extend the viewer or build other complementary products based on the framework may contact Tech Soft directly for complete licensing information.

Major features of the ParaHOOPS 3D Part Viewer include:

· Real-Time, simultaneous collaboration between multiple users.

· Web Publishing with HOOPS Stream Files (HSF), which contain tessellated geometry as well as associated model and assembly structure in a highly compressed, stream capable format.

· Large Model Visualization capabilities such as Level-of-Detail 3D Spriting and consistent frame-rate rendering using dynamic swapping of LODs and rendering modes.

· Conversion of Parasolid part files between all supported versions of Parasolid up to and including v13 to ensure maximum data interoperability.

· Rendering modes for wire-frame, Parasolids precise hidden line and Gouraud (smooth) shading and triangulated.

· Ability to browse topological structure of models and zoom to selected entities.

· Vector-based hardcopy output for accurate printing of complex models.

· Save models as TIFF or EMF files to incorporate part images in technical publication documents and other related materials.

"Were very pleased to demonstrate the power of our latest HOOPS Net Server component in this latest version of the ParaHOOPS 3D Part Viewer. In addition to this being a valuable tool for the entire Parasolid Data Pipeline we hope this demonstrates how developers can quickly develop their own collaborative application using our components. said Ron Fritz, Managing Partner for TSA.

"The Parasolid XT pipeline now connects many of the industrys leading and most widely-used MCAD applications. We are pleased to be working with TSA to deliver Parasolid and HOOPS together, extending the XT pipeline to an even wider community," added Ken Sears, Director of the Parasolid line of business for UGS.

Parasolid is an industry-leading component geometric modelling product with technology and innovations that power today's most advanced mechanical CAD/CAM/CAE applications. Parasolid's Extreme Modelling is a series of well-integrated, proprietary technologies that provide the ability to confidently model the most complex parts and assemblies found in any industry. In addition, Parasolid pioneered the first production implementation of a symmetric multi-processing (SMP) enabled geometric kernel that provides significantly increased performance on today's multi-processor computers. Furthermore, Parasolid delivers an interoperable Data Pipeline allowing Parasolid-based systems to share and exchange geometric data without translation using its de facto standard XT file format.

More than 240 Parasolid-powered applications have shipped or been announced and more than 230 organizations have licensed Parasolid. In addition to its use in UGS' Unigraphics and Solid Edge products, licensees of Parasolid include Parametric Technology, SolidWorks (a subsidiary of Dassault Systèmes S.A.), Bentley Systems, CADKEY, ANSYS, Mechanical Dynamics and MSC.Software. Over 720,000 end user seats have the Parasolid kernel embedded within them. For more information please visit on the World Wide Web.
