TakeTwo Signs Designer Cameron PierronAdds to their high-end design and animation team (June 23, 2005)
TakeTwo, Kansas City’s premiere production/postproduction house, has signed designer Cameron Pierron, a former partner in Wish Creative Group, a motion graphics studio. “We really had no immediate plans to expand TakeTwo’s design and animation department until we screened Cameron’s reel,” says CEO Teri Rogers. “But after seeing the level of his skills and creativity, we knew we had to make room for him.”
Pierron joins fellow designer Darton Simons and Smoke artist Allen Robbins in TakeTwo’s FX department, which is headed up by director of visual of effects, Michael Ong. With the addition of Pierron, TakeTwo has created the kind of collaborative team needed to turn out high-end, effects-driven spots – and has the manpower needed to become more deeply involved with each project early in the preproduction phase. The team’s expanded previsualization services will allow them to determine the position and timing of multilayered elements and identify potential problems, as well as creative opportunities, before the actual shoot takes place – saving clients time and money.
“Like Darton and Allen, Cameron is a creative problem-solver who enjoys the challenge of working out the logistics of executing an effect so when a job comes in we can dedicate our time to maximizing its production value, rather than fixing it,” said Ong. “His addition to our talent roster makes TakeTwo’s visual effects team unbeatable!”
Pierron noted, “Although owning my own company gave me a lot of freedom, it takes time to build the kind of reputation that attracts a steady stream of high-end work. TakeTwo has a solid roster of top-caliber, national clients, and I’m excited about being part of their terrific talent pool.”
A native of Wichita, Pierron finds that “all of my professional experience feeds into the work I do today.”
Prior to heading up Kansas City-based Wish Creative Group for the past 18 months, Pierron spent four years with Wichita’s Clear Channel Communications as a TV producer and animator. Previously, he served as a second assistant director in Los Angeles, where his credits include such feature films as Tim Burton’s “Mars Attacks!” and DreamWorks’ “Paulie,” as well as a number of independent films.
“Since I was eight or nine years old I’ve always wanted to work in this industry,” recalled Pierron. “I love Tim Burton; he’s my greatest influence. I also get a lot of inspiration from music videos, which are always way ahead of the curve; I particularly like director Mark Romanek’s recent music videos for Nine Inch Nails.”
“While my work shows a broad range of styles, I think its darker side is a real complement to Darton’s clean, modern look. Together we make a perfect team!”
Darton Simons, who joined TakeTwo eight years ago from the print world (and has recently lent his design skills to TakeTwo projects for H&R Block, AMC Theatres and Wal-Mart), noted, “I’m very impressed and excited by Cameron’s reel. As a designer, I enjoy exchanging ideas and collaborating with talent of his caliber. I appreciate the opportunity to learn from and exchange constructive criticism with a professional eye that I respect. Cameron will be a wonderful addition to TakeTwo’s creative team - and together we’ll be a more powerful creative resource.”
