CD #10 NEWS GRAPHIC By Ko Maruyama
Dean Velez, aka THE ANVEL, has released CD#10 - a disc with lessons for how to build your own news open in After Effects 7.  These lessons which you can print out and leave on your desk for quick reference can help you produce many different animations in addition to those similar to the target projects.

In each of the lessons, Dean goes through a single project and gives you some very simple source materials, showing how you can manipulate them into a dynamic animation.

In the 12-CD subscription that Dean is building, CD#10 offers a curriculum to help you create a news open for a channel called WNN.  Using several different plugins that come packaged already with After Effects, Dean makes good use of multiplying effects and layers to achieve looks that might otherwise require additional software.

You can purchase the current CD solo for about $30, or you can get the whole subscription set for $199 (which is $100 off the regular price).  The discount is thanks to the season of conventions!  Siggraph is right around the corner, and Dean has just left the banner up so you can take advantage of it before the show.

Check out THEANVEL.com for a listing of all of the CD tutorials that Dean has already completed.  There are also some lessons and project samples from each of the CDs on his website.  Dean has been a big advocate of providing free instructions for new users of After Effects.  If you have a question, drop by the site, or check out the DMNForums.com message board, where you'll find Dean lurking about.

If you haven't registered for DMN Forums, now would be an excellent time - you can get access to all kinds of footage - footage that you can use in the tutorials that Dean has made as well!
