TANDBERG Television to Show New Broadcast Products at NAB

Also featuring new on-demand video services (March 10, 2005)

NAB2005 will see TANDBERG Television take centre stage as a global force in the provision of enabling technologies for compelling broadcast and on-demand video services. The company will show its first-to-market video compression systems for multi-channel, cross platform SD and HD television, alongside its newly integrated N2 On-Demand Solutions.

TANDBERG Television comes to NAB with a strong worldwide momentum, an intensified focus on the Americas driven by its recent acquisition of N2 Broadband and with significant world-first technology deployment successes. The company will launch new products at NAB and show systems designed to help broadcasters and operators maximise the potential of their networks.

NAB2005 product highlights from TANDBERG Television will include:

The massive bit rate reductions achieved through advanced video encoding codecs, MPEG-4 part 10 (H.264/AVC) and Windows Media 9 Series (proposed SMPTE VC-1), are opening up new SD and HD business models in the media and entertainment markets and TANDBERG Television will use NAB2005 to showcase its first-to-market suite of upgradeable SD and HD solutions for MPEG-2, MPEG-4 part 10 and Windows Media 9 Series.

Complete Systems
The TANDBERG Television booth will feature a number of market specific zones, each with live demos of the latest digital video systems from live content acquisition to delivery to the home. Highlights will include end-to-end demonstrations of Windows Media 9 series and MPEG-4 part 10 (H.264/AVC) in live TV over DSL and HDTV DTH satellite delivery networks. These will show the complete TANDBERG Television advanced encoding environment with first-to-market encoding, modulation, statistical multiplexing and control and monitoring solutions. Both of these SD and HD advanced compression demos will show advanced end-to-end systems and interoperability with a wide range of silicon, set-top box, middleware and conditional access providers.

In addition the booth will feature a live demo of a fully configured and operational MPEG-2 HD/SD TANDBERG Director system as used in North America by ABC network affiliates.
