Symantec Appoints New Vice President, Asia PacificMichelle Amery appointed as Vice President, Asia Pacific
Symantec Corp. has announced the appointment of Michelle Amery as Vice President, Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Amery will be responsible for the sales, marketing and operations of the company across the region.
?As Internet security threats are becoming more severe, enterprises and individuals alike are recognising the need to build a secure IT infrastructure for their business or home, said Vincent Steckler, vice president, Japan and Asia Pacific. ?Asia Pacific continues to grow at a tremendous rate and take on an increased importance for our global business. As such we continue to invest in this region. Michelle Amery is an experienced and dynamic leader who will bring her considerable expertise to our business in Asia Pacific.
?For me this is a return to Asia Pacific after six years in the US, said Michelle Amery. ?Faced with ever more challenging security risks, customers are turning to trusted security partners to help them manage and respond to all levels of security threat. Since March 2003 Steckler has been instrumental in Symantecs business across the region as Vice President, Asia Pacific. His role has now been expanded to Vice President, Japan and Asia Pacific.
Prior to this new role, Amery was Vice President, Global Sales Planning and Operations. Based in the US, Amery was responsible for the companys strategy, planning and sales channels infrastructure. From October 1998 to April 2001, Amery was Vice President, Latin America, responsible for the sales, marketing and operations of the region. Before her Latin America roles, Amery held a number of senior positions in Asia Pacific including Senior Director/General Manager for Australia, New Zealand.
David is the owner and publisher of Australian Videocamera. He has a background in media dating back to 1979 when he first got involved with photojournalism in motorsport, and went from there into technology via a 5 year stint with Tandy Computers.
Moving back to WA, David wrote scripts for Computer Television for video training for the just released Windows and Office 95 among others, and was then lured to Sydney to create web sites for the newly commercial Internet in 1995, building hundreds of sites under contract to OzEmail including Coates Hire, Hertz Queensland, John Williamson, the NSW Board of Studies and many, many more.
