Suspect in '67 Ohio schoolgirl killing takes standMan accused of killing Ohio schoolgirl in 1967 testifies at retrial
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) ' A man accused of tying up a 14-year-old Ohio schoolgirl in his basement for days in 1967 before killing her and dumping her body in Michigan has taken the stand at his retrial.
WTOL-TV in Toledo reports Robert Bowman made several rambling statements and refused to answer some of his attorney's questions. He also accused investigators of planting evidence against him.
Bowman, who is now 75, is charged with murder in the death of Eileen Adams, a Toledo high school freshman who vanished on her way home from school. Her body was found wrapped in a rug a month later in a southern Michigan field.
Investigators say DNA linked Bowman to the killing decades later.
Bowman didn't testify at his first trial that ended in August with a hung jury.
