Sullivan Street Press Announces New E-Book Blog

New York, New York (PRWEB) March 13, 2014

Sullivan Street Press announced today the company will feature bi-monthly blog posts on the homepage of its website from blogger Katey Garrigan, an e-book expert who brings a wealth of knowledge to Sullivan Street Press and its readers.

Katherine (Katey) Garrigan is a digital production manager at an international publishing house where she spends her days creating e-books. In her spare time, she writes and teaches seminars about the importance of e-books and the ease of creating them.

From its beginnings, Sullivan Street Press has advocated for the use of digital technology to distribute content as a way to be both environmentally sound as well as financially prudent. Garrigan, in her introduction to the new blog, agrees that embracing digital technology is an important next step for society.

The Gutenberg printing press changed the way people created books, and with this one small press, revolutionized Europe and shifted the direction of history, writes Garrigan. What effect will e-books have on our world and our lives? This blog will aim for a fun and educational discussion around all things e-books and the changes we could see with this new technology.

According to data published by United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on WorldOMeter, this year after only 2 1/2 months, worldwide, nearly 500,000 titles have been published. This rapid growth in our information age has spawned a largely underreported devastation to our environment.

In service to these environmental concerns, Sullivan Street Presss founder, Deborah Emin, believes the reading public should become more informed about what an e-book can do and why they should consider buying e-books rather than bound books. The benefits of e-books for most types of content far outweigh the cost of the production of bound books.

Education about e-books will serve our readers better, said Emin. As readers transition away from buying bound books, they will have a better understanding of what this technology can do and will be able to do in the future.

About SULLIVAN STREET PRESS:
Founded 4 years ago, Sullivan Street Press entered the e-publishing domain to change the publishing paradigm. It recognized that for both financial and environmental reasons it was necessary to advocate for the rise of the e-book and the technology that makes all things digital possible. Responding to readers concerns, many of whom arent yet ready to commit to the e-book revolution, SSP began to have its books published in Print-on-Demand format on the Espresso Book Machine at McNally Jackson Books in New York City. In furtherance of the digital side of its publishing mission, the Scags Series is also available as in iPad app, powered by MAZ Digital.
