Stephen Arnold Music Expands Operations Into New York

Company marks its fourth location in U.S., and names Michelle King, Director, East Coast Sales (March 02, 2006)

Stephen Arnold Music, widely regarded as the leading provider of original and syndicated music to the broadcasting industry, with its musical compositions heard daily in over 100-million American homes on 300 television stations and numerous broadcast and cable TV networks, has expanded into New York City, opening a new office there. Along with the companys existing offices in Dallas, Los Angeles, and Santa Fe, New Mexico, the New York office marks Stephen Arnold Musics fourth such location. Concurrently, the company has also named Michelle King to the new position of Director, East Coast Sales. The announcement was made today by company founder/composer Stephen Arnold.

In her new post, King will seek East Coast-based new business opportunities for the acclaimed music production company, from clients working across all media genres, including television, film, commercials, the Internet, and multimedia presentations.

About Michelle King
Known for her ability to spot emerging talent, Michelle King is one of the music industrys most consistent, creative and versatile music executives. With a background that includes production sales, marketing, event planning, artist and label management, King has the resources and skills to serve those she works with in all areas of the entertainment industry.

Prior to joining Stephen Arnold Music, King was founder of her own company, the New York-based MLK Management, which she launched in 1997. Specializing in film scoring work on behalf of various musicians, the music of the artists she represented appeared in such films as ?Misdemeanor, ?Pipe Dream, ?Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and HBOs ?Fall Attributes. One of her crowning achievements during this time was the development and execution of the 2003 Cunningham Dance Company BAM performance, featuring original music by Radiohead and Sigur Ros.

Prior to the formation of MLK Management, King was Director of Special Projects for Elias Associates, (the second time she worked for that company,) and represented them in the broadcasting industry, bringing special attention to ?Lifebeat, an AIDS awareness campaign. Earlier, she worked at Bumstead Productions, where she was General Manager for that artist management company, which boasted a roster that included k.d. lang, Erasure and Holly Palmer. King gained experience there with developing new artists, coordinating tours and negotiating contracts for record deals, tours, television specials and one-off performances.

Before her position with Bumstead Productions, King was employed by Mute Records as Assistant to the President. There, she worked with such talent as Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Depeche Mode, Diamanda Galas and Barry Adamson. During her first stint with Elias Associates (one of the first companies to compose underscores for television, commercials and film,) she developed, directed and oversaw various projects along with her team.

King originally began her career in the entertainment industry in 1987 at NBC in New York, as a page for NBC, working on such programs as ?Saturday Night Live, ?The Late Show with David Letterman and ?Live at Five. She later became a production assistant with NBC News, where she was involved in developing several of the stations world renowned news specials, including ?God Is Not Elected, with Maria Shriver, ?Scared and Sexless, with Connie Chung, and ?Home, Street Home, with Tom Brokaw. King is a graduate of American University, with a B.A. Degree in Law/Society.
