Steinberg Releases LM-4 MarkII XXL Pack for MacBundle includes three sample libraries (October 25, 2001)
Little information about either the LM-4 MarkII or the XXL pack was available at press time. The LM-4 MarkII includes several 24-bit percussion sounds (aside from those included with the XXL pack), spanning rock, house, Latin and other styles, for a total of 50 drum sets. It includes features like velocity switching, ADSR envelope per pad and an integrated BitCrusher. It has 12 outputs (three stereo and six mono), which are routed directly to the VST system's audio mixer.
The LM-4 MarkII and the XXL pack require a 300 MHz G3 processor or better running Mac OS 8.0 or higher and a VST 2.0-compatible host application, such as Cubase VST or Nuendo (both from Steinberg).
Steinberg has also released the Midix 3, a MIDI interface that offers three outputs and one input. It can handle up to 48 MIDI channels. Steinberg says that using the LTB MIDI communication protocol, each MIDI event has a "guaranteed" maximum delay of 1 ms. The Midix 3 supports multiple clients and "MIDI Thru." It comes with a MIDI test cable function integrated and includes USB cables.
