Standoff man's fiancee says he had been betrayedFiancee of Texas man in Indiana standoff says he was reeling from financial betrayal
VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) ' The fiancee of a Texas man who died of gunshot wounds after holding hostages at a northwestern Indiana realty office says he had been reeling from a financial betrayal by a man who worked in that office.
Roy L. Ferguson died Friday from gunshot wounds he suffered at the end of a nearly seven-hour standoff at Prudential Executive Group Real Estate office in Valparaiso, about 40 miles southeast of Chicago.
Ferguson's fiancee, Dawn Brim, tells The Times of Munster (http://bit.ly/JFcSH9) she doesn't understand what triggered Friday's standoff, but she's certain the 48-year-old from Fulshear, Texas was upset about money a man who worked at the Prudential office owed him.
Police said the Prudential employee Ferguson believed owed him money wasn't in the building when the standoff began.
