"Stamps.com software is designed to provide seamless, reliable mailing and shipping services," said President and CEO Ken McBride. "As always, we make sure all USPS rate changes are a hassle-free experience for our customers."

In addition to new rates, the USPS has expanded its offering of leading, cost-effective services with the introduction of a new Express Mail® Flat Rate Box and Priority Mail® Regional Rate Box C. The addition of the two boxes gives customers tremendous cost-saving potential, further positioning the USPS as the best value in the mailing and shipping industry.

Highlights of the 2012 USPS postage rate increase include:

  • Postage rates increased for all USPS mail classes, including letters. The one-ounce letter rate increased from 44 cents to 45 cents, while the rate for additional ounces remained the same at 20 cents. The postcard rate increased from 29 cents to 32 cents.
  • Online postage customers (such as Stamps.com customers) will continue to receive discounted rates for Express Mail, Priority Mail and First-Class™ Package Service. The discounted rates offer up to 62% off retail Post Office™ prices.
  • The new Express Mail Flat Rate Box allows customers to ship a box with overnight delivery anywhere in the country for one price regardless of weight (up to 70 lbs). Priced at $39.95, the box offers a value that's virtually unmatched.
  • The new Priority Mail Regional Rate Box C is the Postal Service's largest and deepest box at 15" x 12" x 12" and can hold up to 25 lbs. When compared to regular Priority Mail, Regional Rate Box C offers savings up to $11 for packages weighing 18 lbs or more.
