St. Clair Updates Default Folder X

St. Clair Software has released an update to Default Folder X, a utility adds a variety of functional enhancements to open and save dialogs in Mac OS X. The new version now includes the ability to click on grayed-out filenames in save dialogs to copy the name of the file for saving. It's available now in beta form.

Default Folder X 1.8b3 is a general utility for improving navigation in Mac OS X. It attaches a toolbar to the right side of open and save dialogs, providing access to additional navigation features, including providing access to windows that are open in the Finder; showing the path to the current location in the top menu; adding hotkeys to favorites and recently used folders; providing the ability to get info, rename and delete files without leaving the dialog; and adds enhancements for navigating folder in the Finder.

The new version offers the ability to click on grayed-out filenames in save dialogs to copy the name of an existing file. It also adds hotkeys for use in any application; the ability to set a single default folder for all apps; improved performance; and general bug fixes, including fixes for problems that occurred when using Default Folder X with Cocoa applications.
