SquawkMe Launches Social Video App with Location-Based Tagging

  (April 28, 2011)

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (PRWEB) April 28, 2011

vdoDesign Labs, a mobile video app provider, today unveiled the beta launch of SquawkMe for iPhone. SquawkMe is a video & location sharing application that enables users to capture mobile videos, tag them geographically, and instantly distribute them on Facebook and Twitter.

SquawkMe also allows viewers to geographically connect and see events within their proximity by clicking on an "in-app" map, which displays all the videos (or Squawks) being shared around them. Squawks are automatically pegged to a users exact location, and provide an ongoing visual archive of events that have been captured in that location.

Viewers can also see Squawks trending globally at anytime through the app or from the companys web-site

Location-based video represents a breakthrough in the social graph and potentially in citizen journalism. Imagine being able to share world events in real time with the precise location identified for viewers, allowing them differing perspectives of that same event. Given recent events in the world, Squawking will allow people to video-capture exciting moments and tag their location instantly, said Arash Mahin, co-founder and CEO of vdoDesign Labs. When you think of SquawkMe, think Foursquare plus YouTube!

SquawkMe began alpha tests in late 2010, and the company saw significant uptake by specific groups of people on Twitter seeking to personalize their tweets with video. We received extremely valuable feedback from the Twitterati during our initial testing, added Mahin. "Not only did it help to guide subsequent product design, but it demonstrated that the market demand was there for proximity and mobile-based social video, with a clean user experience.

vdoDesign Labs has bootstrapped its development to date and intends to begin running several mobile promotions during its beta phase. Some of the world's top brands see the value of reaching customers at their exact locations with non-intrusive, engaging content. Were very excited about the potential to help leading brands develop strong promotions using location-based video, said Mahin.

SquawkMe is now available to the general public for free on the Apple store
