Spreecast Extends Social Video Platform With Embed Capability

Live & Recorded Spreecasts Can Now Be Embedded on Web Sites & Blogs (February 07, 2012)

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/07/12 -- Spreecast, the social video platform that lets people broadcast together, announced today that its service can now be embedded, free of charge, on any website or blog.

Launched as a public beta in November 2011, Spreecast enables people, using only a browser and a webcam, to produce highly interactive face-to-face video broadcasts that thousands of others can participate in live. The broadcasts are simultaneously recorded and immediately available for playback and sharing.

"With Spreecast Embed, we are bringing face-to-face interactions to the Internet in a far-reaching way," said Ron Levi, VP of Marketing & Product. "It's just a small snippet of code to copy and paste into your web page, but it opens up enormous opportunities to engage your audience and expand your reach. It's especially great for bloggers, celebrities, businesses, journalists, political organizations... but really anyone who wants to facilitate a conversation online."

The Spreecast Embed comes in multiple sizes and includes an interactive, two-way video screen, a built-in chat room, customizable Twitter stream, and Facebook Comments. Viewers can chat, submit questions to people on screen, and request to join them on camera. Producers behind the scenes have robust controls to moderate the spreecast and control everything that appears on screen.

Early beta tests of the Spreecast Embed include:

SOPA/PIPA Discussion -- Over 5,000 people watched a live SOPA/PIPA panel discussion hosted by the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC) featuring Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian and Congressman Darrell Issa - R, CA. The spreecast was embedded on and the Huffington Post.

Nikon D4 Preview -- Jared Polin, the popular photography blogger, shared his initial impressions about the new Nikon D4 camera he received for review. All of Jared's spreecasts are now available on his site
