SpectSoft reveals NAB production-to-post demonstration plans plus new versions of RaveHD & DiceHD(April 15, 2007)
DMN Newswire--2007-4-15--SpectSoft, makers of RaveHD, will feature a production- to-post workflow demonstration at the Renaissance Hotel Las Vegas, Suite 730 (Next to the LVCC). Technology partner M.O.S. Sync, Inc. (On-Set metadata and Digital Dailies solutions) will jointly feature in the demonstration.
SpectSoft Co Founder Ramona Howard is upbeat about the demonstration plans and commented ?We decided to actually show a production-to-post workflow and it will run in a very hands-on way. Our objective in doing this is to actually show the benefits of an end-to-end solution instead of talking about, and showing slides of, how good it should be. Were delighted to have the opportunity to work with M.O.S. Sync who have through founder Bernie Laramie, produced some very progressive solutions at the production end of the business.
Unveiling in the SpectSoft suite will be the RaveHD Head/Node workflow. This allows RaveHD to connect up to multiple Smart Storage Nodes and be utilized in a more traditional tape based workflow, yet still provide the powerful frame based workflow that is tomorrow. Each Smart Node can be operated independently of RaveHD for a variety of functions that include conversions to QT, AVI and MPEG files. The RaveHD Head/Node workflow opens up tremendous new possibilities and allows clients to now take RaveHD onto the production set. Essentially, recorded frames are written directly to a portable Smart Node and then transported to post where they can be dropped into the network. Here RaveHD can either act as a file server and/or a source to stream video. There is absolutely nothing proprietary about this set-up, no disk packs or additional systems needed to get to the data. As quickly as you can get it onto your network you can have access.
Also debuting in the Renaissance suite is the RaveHD version 2.5. Among the enhancements for this version are dual recording (stereoscopic) capabilities making the product ideal for capture of 3D images from todays fast growing number of 3D camera rigs. Additional remote control capabilities have been added which include a touch panel GUI and Ethernet based controller support, for example the JL Cooper unit.
RaveHD 2.5 also features increased functionality for 4:4:4, 2k, Burn-in, LUTs & multiple capture/playback syncing along with 10 GB support in every RaveHD Cobalt and Smart Node system. Howard continues, ?One of our core objectives has been to make RaveHD as flexible as possible to use with anything on the market. From a network standpoint we are equally at home working with Linux, Mac or Windows. SpectSoft has always been very open as a manufacturer and this allows us to take standard products that are already in use everyday and make them work well together while mixing in tomorrows technology. Every product purchased from SpectSoft includes the source code for integration and proprietary development.
"Neterion is delighted to partner with SpectSoft in delivering this video workflow demonstration," stated Philippe Levy, vice president of marketing of Neterion. "The 10 Gigabit Ethernet eco-system has arrived at maturity, and the technology is now broadly available to digital media professionals. Ethernet is already attractive for its standard nature, cost-efficiency and ease of use, but at 10 Gbps speed, it drastically shortens data processing and transfer times, reducing costs and production timelines."
A new product emerging from SpectSoft is DiceHD, a 6 channel SD/HD keyer. DiceHD will debut in the SpectSoft booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center South Hall (booth SL 2006). ?As a result of customer feedback we decided to release DiceHD with the option of 4:4:4 for those customers who require full bandwidth, commented SpectSofts Jason Howard.
SpectSoft products can be seen in Booth SL2006 in the South Hall or in suite #730 at the Renaissance Hotel.
