Southwest Airlines Launches Rapid Rewards Shopping Powered by Cartera CommerceJust in Time for Holiday Shopping, Rapid Rewards Members Can Now Earn Rapid Rewards Points With Hundreds of Top Online Retailers (November 17, 2011)
LEXINGTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/17/11 -- Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) and Cartera Commerce, the leading provider of card-linked marketing solutions, today launched Rapid Rewards Shopping, a new program that allows Rapid Rewards Members to earn Rapid Rewards Points by shopping with hundreds of participating retailers. Available today to Southwest's Rapid Rewards Members, the new program marks the first time Southwest is offering its frequent fliers the opportunity to earn points for online shopping.

Holiday Shopping with Southwest
Arriving just in time for the holidays, Rapid Rewards Shopping features thousands of valuable points offers from more than 700 participating online retailers. Members can use Rapid Rewards Shopping to get more out of their holiday shopping budgets -- on top of online retailers' sales and promotions -- by earning points for each gift they buy. For example, on Cyber Monday, members will be able to earn double points by shopping with select retailers including Barnes & Noble, homedepot.com, Macys.com, Sears.com and other top retailers. With the average U.S. online shopper projected to spend $516 on gifts in 2011 according to Internet Retailer, Southwest could potentially award millions of Rapid Rewards Points, even if just a quarter of eligible Members do all their holiday gift buying with Rapid Rewards Shopping.
How it Works
Unlike other online shopping deals that require special codes or coupons, Rapid Rewards Shopping helps Members earn more points effortlessly. Members simply log in using their Rapid Rewards account number and find offers through Rapid Rewards Shopping, which features thousands of offers from top online retail brands across all shopping categories including clothing, electronics, books, music, home improvement and more.
Integrated search, price comparison tools, seasonal promotions and personalized recommendations help shoppers quickly find the most relevant, valuable offers.
To shop and earn points, Members simply click to a retailer's site from Rapid Rewards Shopping, select their items, and checkout as they normally would -- points will be deposited into the Members' Rapid Rewards accounts after purchase.
