Sony Ships Portable Projectors

5-pound model offers XGA resolution By Dave Nagel
Sony today debuted two new microportable projectors at the InfoComm convention in Las Vegas. The new models weigh in at a little more than 5 pounds and offer a brightness of up to 2,000 ANSI lumens.

Both models come house in the same chassis and offer a range of automated and programmable features, as well as an array of video inputs. Sony's VPL-CS5 SuperLite projector weighs 5.15 pounds and offers 1,800 ANSI lumens of brightness with an SVGA (800 x 600) resolution.

The VPL-CX5 projector offers 2,000 ANSI lumens of brightness and a native XGA resolution (1,024 x 768). It accepts composite, S-video, RGB/component and SYNC/HD signals. It's USB-compatible and also includes a ory Stick media slot.

The CX5 sells for $3,399. The CS5 sells for $2,199. Both will be available this month. For more information, visit
