Solutions Healthcare Deploys Agile Infrastructure With Xsigo

Healthcare IT Service Provider Deploys Virtual Infrastructure, Cuts Complexity by 77%, Saves Cost With Open Sourcing Flexibility (January 10, 2012)

SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/10/12 -- Xsigo Systems, Inc., the leader in virtualized data center infrastructure, today announced that Solutions Healthcare, an IT service provider for medical offices and clinics, has successfully deployed Xsigo to meet their fast-growing needs for a scalable, cost-effective and reliable data center infrastructure.

"A single MRI scan can produce hundreds of gigabytes of data, so it is easy to see why our bandwidth and storage requirements are going through the roof," said Todd Hoopingarner, president of Solutions Healthcare. "We needed an infrastructure that could expand on demand, something that simply was not possible with conventional data center infrastructure."

To accommodate their 60% annual storage growth, Solutions Healthcare deployed two Xsigo I/O Directors, along with VMware ESX software, Supermicro servers, and Compellent storage. Xsigo's virtual I/O technology consolidates all server connectivity, both storage and networking, to a single cable, greatly simplifying the server infrastructure and accelerating new deployments.
Benefits achieved with Xsigo include 77% less infrastructure complexity, 50% savings on server costs, 4X more bandwidth per server than 10Gb Ethernet, and multi-vendor interoperability.

"We used to be locked in to a single vendor's server platform, but when that vendor hit us with a big cost increase, we decided to adopt a vendor-neutral platform," said Jeff Bills, Solution Healthcare's VP of IT. "Xsigo's open architecture lets us deploy the servers of our choice, plus we get an I/O management framework that provides a single-screen view of I/O resources across all of our servers, regardless of vendor."

The Xsigo I/O Director is the industry's only product that controls all aspects of server connectivity -- both storage and networking -- from a single management platform. Other benefits gained by Solutions Healthcare include the ability to deploy new server connections without having to change physical cabling, significantly reducing the time required to accommodate customer requests.

"With Xsigo, we can deliver a more scalable, cost-effective service -- with greater availability, faster performance, and quicker response -- than our customers could ever achieve on their own," said Todd. "And best of all, Xsigo is reliable. It just works."

"Healthcare presents an especially challenging IT environment due to the vast amount of medical data and the need to keep that information isolated," said Bruce Fingles, Xsigo's VP of Product Line Management and Customer Support. "We are very pleased to work with Solutions Healthcare to help them meet these demanding needs with the industry's most efficient, highest performance infrastructure."
