SolidWorks Certifies Four Products

(September 17, 2001)
SolidWorks Corp. has added four new Certified Gold Products to run on its three-dimensional computer-aided design (3D CAD) software, the company announced today. The new partner products enable engineers to reduce design time and production errors so they can speed products to market. These products are fully integrated into the Windows-based SolidWorks 2001 environment, enabling users to click on an icon and immediately begin using the application.

"Third-party application support is a critical factor in a company's decision to purchase CAD software," said Bruce Jenkins, executive vice president of Daratech. "SolidWorks' unsurpassed range of partner applications, and the significant growth in its partner program over the past year, will benefit both current and prospective SolidWorks users, and demonstrates the appeal of being part of the SolidWorks family."

To certify partner applications as Gold Products, SolidWorks rigorously tests the technology to ensure that it seamlessly integrates with SolidWorks software so that a user does not need to jump between two applications to design a product. Instead, the complete integration allows users to easily access the partner product through the SolidWorks window and menu structure. SolidWorks' certification of these new products signals the Certified Gold Product program's growing momentum and brings the list of certified products to 29. The new products include:

* Solid Dynamics' MotionWorks ( mechanism simulation software that allows engineers to easily simulate how assemblies of any size and complexity operate in motion. This ensures accurate design and eliminates production errors through virtual prototyping;

* Eigner + Partner, Inc.'s axalant ( product lifestyle management (PLM) software that allows SolidWorks users to easily manage and archive SolidWorks objects such as drawings, models, and components;

* R&B Mold & Die Design Solutions' SplitWorks ( software that allows SolidWorks users to accelerate design time by automating the process of core cavity separation and creation;

* Vision Numeric's Type3Works ( engraving and sculpting software that allows SolidWorks users to add symbols, text, and logos to SolidWorks parts. This enables users to decorate and personalize industrial parts and therefore communicate effectively.

"The Certified Gold Products Program demonstrates our dedication to enabling customers to design 3D CAD products quickly and more efficiently," said Brian Houle, Gold Products manager for SolidWorks Corporation. "We worked closely with leading CAD technology providers like Vision Numeric, Eigner + Partner, R&B, and Solid Dynamics to ensure that their software is fully integrated with SolidWorks. This allows users to easily engrave a part, access a file, create a mold cavity, and see a complex assembly in motion - all using the same user interface."
