Softron Media Services Updates MovieRecorderMacintosh Based Video Ingest Application Supports Batch Capture and Metadata Capture with Final Cut Server Integration (September 11, 2008)
DMN Newswire--2008-9-11--IBC-Booth 5-A09, Amsterdam, September11, 2008. Softron Media Services today announced the immediate availability of updated version of MovieRecorder that now allow users to batch capture from tape decks as well as to write metadata with the clips being captured.
MovieRecorder is a Macintosh based multi-format, multiple input video, acquisition software that supports Edit-while-ingest. It supports multiple SD and HD formats, either compressed or uncompressed. MovieRecorder allows the user to schedule or manually capture video clips that can be edited during the ingest session. Multiple ingest sessions on the same or on different workstations can be monitored and controlled via MovieRecorder Control. Aggressively priced, two MovieRecorder applications running on a single workstation can use two Blackmagic Design cards in a MacPro workstation to simultaneously capture from two different inputs. The new batch capture feature allows MovieRecorder to be used in lieu of Final Cut when batch capturing from tape decks. Batch capture supports metadata capture.
"Final Cut Pro Server is a unique application that provides users the ability to access their ingested material from MAM archives," said Daniel Tapie, CEO of Softron Media Services. "They can do this realistically only when there is metadata associated with the clips that have been captured. MovieRecorder makes this easy, enhancing the workflow in professional environments."
The latest version of MovieRecorder allows:
- metadata capture to be selected as part of the "Capture Settings" dialog (as a new tab),
- metadata to be edited and customized by adding new keys and values,
- customized metadata keys to be saved as presets,
- metadata to be saved along with the capture settings, so they are automatically restored between launches,
- metadata to be written in both the self-contained and reference movies,
- metadata to be imported and exported from/to XML files (new menu items have been added),
- XML import/export to be triggered via Telnet.
In addition, batch capture from tape decks is integrated in MovieRecorder so that MovieRecorder can serve as the only ingest application needed. MovieRecorder is designed for use with PCI video cards. It is also possible to Export/Import Batch lists.
The new version of MovieRecorder now supports many more Codecs including a number of different Reference Movie formats. MovieRecorder’s Schedule Feature has also been optimized and the Export/Import Schedules is now supported as well.
The DV version of MovieRecorder, MovieRecorder DV is designed for use with DV devices only. MovieRecorder and MovieRecorder DV are both AppleScriptable. Using AppleScripts or Telnet, external applications can monitor and control either version. Softron Media Services provides sample AppleScripts to acquaint users with "How to" scripting assistance.
MovieRecorder and MovieRecorder DV have been chosen by major broadcasters to be part of their workflow making it an affordable and rock-solid solution.
MovieRecorder and MovieRecorder DV are immediately available and are priced at 695 € ($ 1095).
The new features (Metadata and BatchCapture) of MovieRecorder are available in a "Pro" option available for MovieRecorder. The Pro Option of MovieRecorder costs for 295 € ($ 450). Visit us on our booth 5-A09 at IBC as we will provide a free "Pro Option" to all our visitors, valid for one month.
