Softron Media Services Releases OnTheAir CGMacintosh Based Character Generator Provides On Air Graphics Capabilities for Standard Definition (January 07, 2008)
DMN Newswire--2008-1-7--Softron Media Services today announced immediate availability of OnTheAir CG to compliment its palette of professional broadcast applications. OnTheAir CG is a standalone application that is used for overlaying text, graphics, animated logos and bugs, clocks and crawls over live video. It can be used by broadcasters ranging from large national and cable networks to smaller community based television stations. Not limited to broadcasting, OnTheAir CG can be used in any environment where text or graphic overlays on top of live video is a requirement. Examples include live sporting events and concert venues, sales meetings and conventions, church services and closed circuit corporate or educational information systems.
Working in conjunction with Blackmagic Designs Decklink cards, OnTheAir CG is shipping currently for standard definition use only. Future versions will support high definition. OnTheAir CG requires an Apple MacPro workstation with nVidea graphics.
Additionally, OnTheAir CG works with OnTheAir Video, another Softron Media Services application and two Blackmagic cards installed in a single MacPro to provide a video playout server with real-time CG capabilities. This unique capability provides a comprehensive and cost effective solution for the overwhelming number of broadcasters looking to the Macintosh for a solution for their programming needs.
?We are pleased to ship OnTheAir CG for the Mac, said Daniel Tapie, CEO of Softron Media Services. ?We have had numerous requests over the years to provide a quality CG for use by many of our existing clients. We have worked closely with them to provide the tools that they have requested be integrated in an easy to use yet powerful application that meets the needs of many markets simultaneously.
?Softron Media Services is one of the great providers of Macintosh broadcast solutions and we enjoy working with them tremendously, said Dan May, President of Blackmagic Design, USA. ?We are extremely pleased that they have chosen our Decklink series of cards to use with OnTheAir CG. The combined BMD/SMS solution provides so many of our customers with a solution that has been long awaited on the Mac. We expect to see a dramatic rise in the number of television stations as well as presentation environments that will use this solution.
Working with OnTheAir CG, the user can create text and static or moving objects that are overlaid onto live video. Graphics can be created either within OnTheAir CG or by using external applications such as Adobes PhotoShop CS3, Pixel Post Studios Tools for Television Pro or Apples KeyNote, Motion or LiveType applications. Animated graphics can be placed onto fixed locations or can be inserted into moving tickers or crawls that are updateable while running. Scripting capabilities allow for control of playback so that individual projects can be scheduled to run with or without intervention.
OnTheAir CG has a retail price of US$ 1950. It is available from Softron Media Resellers world wide. Demonstration versions of OnTheAir CG as well as other Softron applications are available for evaluation from Softron Medias website located at http://www.softronmedia.com. OnTheAir CG requires a Blackmagic Design video card for video overlay. OnTheAir CG is available bundled with a Decklink SP for composite and component SD use for $2545, or a Decklink Extreme for SDI, composite and component use for $2845.
