Softron Media Services Announces New Application for DV Ingest

MovieRecorderDV Allows Multiple DV Streams to be Captured (August 30, 2007)
DMN Newswire--2007-8-30-- Softron™ Media Services is pleased to announce immediate availability of MovieRecorderDV. MovieRecorderDV allows Macintosh users to capture multiple streams of DV video on the same workstation. MovieRecorderDV comes bundled with MovieRecorder Control to monitor multiple inputs.

“Multi-camera capture support is something that our customers have asked us about for a long time. Whether for sporting events, concerts, news, or even wedding videography, DV users would like to get different perspectives of the same event for later editing.  MovieRecorderDV is just the product to handle this,”said Daniel Tapie, CEO of Softron Media Services. “In addition to being able to ingest multiple streams of DV at the same time, each stream is immediately “edit-ready” meaning that even before the event is actually over, the editor can start composing a finished piece.”

“What is really great about MovieRecorderDV is that because you are working with DV footage, you can take your MacBook Pro with you on a shoot and start digitizing multiple streams of video directly to your computer,” said Mike Skibra, Softron Media’s Business Development Manager.  “Being bundled with MovieRecorder Control makes it extremely easy to monitor all DV inputs to Mac without having to manual man each camera.”

MovieRecorderDV allows Macintosh users who regularly ingest media for editing, presenting, compositing and databasing to use very cost effective hardware solutions. When used in a studio environment on a network, media is “edit-ready” by everyone on the network even while the event that is being recorded.

MovieRecorderDV is designed for users of DV and does not support formats other than DV. MovieRecorderDV will work with cameras, tape decks and live feeds. If more formats are needed or different video standards are required such as analog or SDI video, Softron offers MovieRecorder.  MovieRecorder supports a maximum of two inputs, and uses a PCI or PCI Express Card for ingest.  (It does not offer DV support.)

MovieRecorderDV, Movie Recorder and MovieRecorder Control are available immediately from Softron Media Resellers and Softron Media worldwide. MovieRecorderDV has a suggested list price of €695 Euros or US$ 895.  MovieRecorder Control is bundled with MovieRecorderDV.
